VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED TO STAFF RELAY CENTER DURING OPEN HOURS
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language. In 2008, we distributed over 7 million shoe box gifts worldwide and distributed them to children in 100 countries. To find out more about the program, click here.
![]() Main Street Baptist Church served as an official relay site in 2008 for National Collection week. Individuals and churches from the community were invited to drop their boxes off during open hours during that week. At the end of the week, the boxes were taken to the Sidney Relay Site and then to the area Collection Site in Johnson City, loaded onto trucks, and shipped to the processing center in Boone, NC, - their last stop before going overseas.
200 boxes came from the Main Street congregation
900 boxes came in to Oneonta during collection week
2700 boxes were collected at the Sidney Relay Center And Oneonta Relay Centers combined
This project is being coordinated by the Main Street Baptist Operation Christmas Child Committee. Questions or comments? Email here.
